Experience

25+ years experience with students of varying ages (preschool through adults); over 8,000 hours of one-on-one sessions with students; Author: "The Tutor" (nonfiction novel on Amazon), children's books: three books found also on Amazon written and illustrated by Debra A. Boyle, M.Ed.; student advocacy for IEP/504 accommodations and enforcement; curriculum sold on "TeachersPayTeachers" website; fine arts/photography sold on website, "FineArtAmerica" Background Info: I began working in education within preschool level as a teacher's assistant during my college years. I designed curriculum and taught art for three years at various preschools. After I received my masters degree in counseling-psychology, I continued to work in early childhood education. After volunteering as a tutor for a community elementary school, I was asked to tutor through the summer. That was the start of my tutoring career. I soon became known as the tutor who works with ADD-types and special needs students. I received referrals from pediatric psychologists and psychiatrists for organization skills. Eventually, I worked with both needy students as well as started a small family counseling practice. Together through these two endeavors, I became experienced with over 30 diagnoses of psychological challenges and learning dysfunctions for students. Writing children's books and nonfiction novels became a new goal, and I was pleased to place 4 books on Amazon and receive a first place book review award under the "experiences" category for my non-fiction novel. I have been working with adults who do not know English well, by helping them with any writing tasks for their personal use or for work related use. I have been an advocate for student safety within the local library, becoming interviewed by a local news-radio station and was the featured person in a local newspaper write-up regarding problems for children and teens due to drug use, pornography, and homelessness. My passion for assisting children and adults with writing, speech, and reading in English has been my delight as I watch growth, confidence, and lifestyle changes.

Hobbies

I live in the Pacific Northwest, on peaceful and wooded property east of Seattle, WA (Redmond). Here, I am able to write books and create curriculum tailored for individual students. My husband and I enjoy our three miniature doxie dogs, camping, photography, and watching our frog pond each spring. This is a unique setting where bears and deer meander through our yard, yet we are close to the major city of Seattle, which is surrounded by beautiful lakes and mountains.
