I have some free time this summer, and figure why not spend it doing something I love! As a special education teacher, my specialty is remediation in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics. I currently work at a special admissions, project- based high school. I work hard to provide the appropriate accommodations and modifications for my Special Education students so they can access the rigorous curriculum. In addition, I run a Study Skills course where we focus on executive functioning (meta-cognition-goal setting, organization, time management, self-advocacy, and study skills with the goal of preparing students for post-secondary education or training.

Hobbies
I love to travel! I am adventurous and curious about the world. I love learning about new cultures, and seeking out the “non-touristy places” that make each country unique. One of my favorite trips was backpacking through Thailand and Cambodia with my husband. I think my curiosity and outgoing personality make for a very enthusiastic teacher in the classroom. I also enjoy hiking, running and spending quality time with my nine nieces and nephew, all of whom teach me to be a better teacher! I currently run a small family literacy non-profit called Uniting Through Literacy, where we transform neighborhood schools into community centers, where families can engage in literary opportunities as a family!
