Education

PhD, Chinese (Indiana University, 2016)

Experience

What I have to offer is more than just language lessons. I am a PhD in Chinese who is equipped to provide you with context for your language learning, through introductions to history, culture, and assorted other China-related topics. I have taught all levels, from beginner to advanced. If you are interested in literary Chinese or Uyghur language, please let me know, as I am qualified to teach both. In the process of our lessons, we will slowly work to build fluency by ensuring that you have mastered the requisite vocabulary for each respective level of the HSK exams. Send me a note if you are interested. I pride myself as a personable, interested, committed, and responsive teacher.

Hobbies

I am an all-around language nerd. I love reading about history and the world around me, especially about places that are unlike home. On a typical Saturday, you might find me hiking along the C&O Canal, picnicking at a winery, or binge-watching my favorite shows (currently, Game of Thrones, the Americans, and Orange Is the New Black). I am an Indiana native who grew up watching and playing (not well, admittedly) basketball. I'm a bit of an introvert, but will really open up once we get to know one another.
