Experience
My lifelong passion for and experiences with education and diversity make me a strong tutor, as I'm easily adaptable to different cultures, learning styles, and situations. I look forward to working with students in various courses, including American history, European history, Latin American history, world history, English, Spanish, French, political science, geography, AP Spanish, AP Spanish Literature and Culture, and general study skills and organization. While I enjoy teaching all of these classes, my favorites are Spanish, geography, world history, and government. I believe in working closely with my students to discover their individual learning styles and to figure out how I can teach them most effectively. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Spanish with minors in women's studies and Latin American studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. As an undergraduate, I traveled to Guatemala each summer to volunteer with various non-profit organizations and to study the culture. After graduation, I worked in Ecuador for three years to create school programs and to work with youth and women's groups. Now, I'm teaching all levels of high school Spanish here in Virginia. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, yoga, performing winterguard, and everything about life on the farm.
