I am a former high school English teacher and, at present, am completing my Ph.D. in urban education and literacy at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In the past, I have facilitated creative writing in various Detroit public high schools. This was my start of my career in education. I am an educator at heart and find it a joy and honor to teach and learn with others every day. I completed my master's degree as well as a year of service with AmeriCorps in 2011 and 2012. I worked out of Duke Hospital conducting HIV/AIDS testing and prevention counseling.
