I am a math tutor who lives in Wilmington, North Carolina. I have a B.S. in Mathematics from Duke University.While I mostly teach math, I also like tutoring students in physics and chemistry. Math has been my favorite subject since high school, and this love of math continued while I was at Duke University. My tutoring experience includes teaching high school and middle school students while I was at Duke University through the Program in Education. I am a recipient of the D.T. Stallings Award, which recognizes a senior at Duke University who has been involved with tutoring local school students with dedicated and sustained service.I tutor students in a variety of math and science subjects, including algebra, calculus, geometry, trigonometry, chemistry, and physics. In addition, I also help students prepare for the SAT and ACT exams.My approach to tutoring is "hands on." I like to help students work out problems, as this allows me to help them if they do not understand how to solve a problem. My goal is to help my students learn to persevere and to think logically even with difficult subjects.In addition to tutoring, I also enjoy reading novels and sports like football, hockey, and Duke basketball. I especially enjoy listening to my iPod while reading a novel.
