-- I was born in Geneva, Switzerland and lived in Lausanne, Switzerland until the age of 8. French was my first language. -- In 2006 I took the Advanced Placement test in French and scored a perfect score. I also took the French SAT II and scored a 790 out of 800. -- At Mount Holyoke College I spent several years tutoring French and mathematics (12-18 yrs. of age). I obtained Massachusetts initial teacher's licensure, after completing a rigorous practicum program, in 2010. During the training, I spent one semester at a local high school, teaching two French II courses and one French III course. During this time I got a feel for what teaching entailed and how to best connect with students. Additionally, in order to obtain licensure -- During my junior year of college I spent one semester at Paris VII (Denis Diderot) in Paris. I studied both literature and philosophy. -- At UMass Amherst I spent two years studying French literature. During this time I would occasionally tutor French. -- As a teaching assistant I was entirely responsible for one to two sections of beginner to intermediate french per semester. Courses taught: Fall 2010: One section of French 110 (beginner; 30 students) Spring 2011: Two sections of French 230 (intermediate; 30-33 students per class) Fall 2011: Two sections of French 110 (beginner; 33-34 students per class) Spring 2012: One section of French 120 (beginner II, 33 students). -- At UMass I also taught one online course in the summer of 2011, French 240 (Intermediate II). This was a four-week intensive program that was run using SPARK, an online teaching tool. -- During Spring of 2011 I was an apprentice for a senior seminar, under the direction of a professor. I taught two (3 hour) courses on a book of my choosing, W ou le souvenir d'enfance by Georges Perec. -- During the summer of 2011 I taught at the Middlebury Monterey Language Academy, at one of their locations, in Poultney Vermont. This rigorous immersion program demanded that I teach approximately four hours a day. I taught French III (12 students). I also taught two additional courses (which I developed independently): a beginner theater course and an intermediate course on Switzerland. -- At Princeton University I've taught Beginner French (FR 101, Fall 2013), and Intermediate/Advanced French twice (FR 107, Spring 2015, Spring 2016)
