Experience

Looking for a reliable, patient and experienced tutor? You've come to the right place! I am a Cornell grad (BS Policy Analysis and Management with minors in Education, Business and Inequality Studies) who is passionate about learning and teaching. I love working with students to help them reach their potential. ALL AGES AND LEVELS: I have worked with students of all ages - most recently I was volunteer at an elementary school in Ithaca but have also volunteered in my high school's summer school and have worked as a teaching assistant and grader at Cornell University. I like to employ what I've learned through studies as an Education minor at Cornell to my work with students of different ages and learning levels. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: I have been trained as an SAT tutor and have experience running both one-on-one and group sessions. Having worked for multiple tutoring companies, I have been able to identify which strategies tend to work best for students and use them in my independent tutoring. I also customize sessions to individual students, as no two students learn the same way! Though my specialties are SAT and high school math, I have also independently worked as a grader for an intermediate college-level microeconomics course, assisted in a geometry summer school class at Syosset HS and worked with ESL students from around the globe. I have also worked one-on-one with students to improve writing and study skills. MY APPROACH Having tutored in multiple capacities, I have been able to rework and refine my approach over time. I tailor my lessons to each student and can pick up on preferred learning methods within the first session. I use a blend of real-life analogies, visual aids, and concrete examples to teach and reinforce learning. I welcome and encourage student feedback throughout the tutoring process. FLEXIBLE HOURS I have availability both weekends and evenings during the week. I am happy to work with you or your student to find a time that works best.
