- 2+ years (ongoing) teaching 1st grade in a DC charter elementary school - 3 years teaching and tutoring for Kaplan Test Prep (SAT, ACT, PSAT, SSAT) - Completed teacher training and certification program through KIPP DC I have worked with students of all ages (from 3 to 18), and would love to spend my summer months helping out however I can! My elementary certification qualifies me through 6th grade education, and I have access to numerous curricula and teacher resources through my full-time job. I am trained and experienced in test prep as well, and have experience (through Kaplan) teaching remedial math and reading to high school students. I relate well to kids of all ages, and am committed to finding creative solutions to academic challenges. I believe that learning should not be painful or stressful, and that there is a way for EVERY child to access every level of learning.

Hobbies
I'm a Boston native who moved to DC in 2005, originally to work on the Hill. I started tutoring part-time and fell in love with teaching, which led me to a full career change! I love reading for pleasure and helping kids discover a love of reading. Most of my hobbies in the DC area involve spending time outdoors - picnicking in parks, biking, or just enjoying the walkability of the city. When I was younger, I played ice hockey for 14 years on both co-ed and all-girls teams, and I still love skating whenever I get the chance. I have two silly dogs who keep me very entertained, and when it's nice out, I spend a lot of time in my backyard, grilling and playing with the pups.
