Experience

I have three years teaching experience on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I was a Teach For America corps member and then stayed for an extra year before moving back to the Midwest. I taught 4th grade and 6-12 English Language Arts. My fourth graders grew more than 3 reading levels, on average, in one year and 2 math levels in the same time. My middle school students also grew two reading levels in one academic year. I am currently coaching teachers in all content areas and grade levels. Since I don't currently have a classroom of my own, I would love to work with students again as a tutor! I am planning on returning to the classroom next year to teaching upper elementary or middle school reading.

Hobbies

I spend a lot of my free time reading, watching movies, and hiking/going on walks with my dogs. I like to be outdoors as much as possible, even leading my class outside on several occasions. I would like to take a position in leadership in a school sometime in the next few years, hopefully as an instructional or literacy coach.
