Education

Rutgers University Bachelors Degree in Applied Linguistics, and a Minor in Psychology Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a GPA 3.8 I also have my TESL and TESOL Certificates.

Experience

I have a bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics with a minor in Psychology and hold a teacher certificate from the state of New Jersey. I also have special teaching licenses in TEFL and TESOL. I have over 10 years experience tutoring all grade levels including adults and special needs students in, Mathematics, Sciences, Social Studies, Language Arts and all aspects of Psychology. In my experience, no two students are alike, and I'm able to quickly identify unique needs, to help each student progress quickly! Students find me patient, kind and fun to work with. Because my background includes lots of experience with special needs students, I am effective with ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, and students on the spectrum. Regarding ESL tutoring, I have a deep understanding of the science and research behind the way English as a second language is learned. Because I also train teachers who are using state-adopted ESL materials, I have access to lots of great resources. I love technology and enjoy using it as a tool in my work. I'm flexible and can adapt quickly to the way each individual student learns best.

Hobbies

My greatest passion in life is teaching. I was born and raised in New Jersey, and experienced great success in my academics, due to amazing and unforgettable teachers. This is the foundation of my commitment to helping out my students, whatever their abilities may be. Currently, I am studying a masters degree specializing in teaching elementary students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, rounding out my undergraduate background in primary education. I have been tutoring and teaching for over 10 years in various settings — tutoring small and large groups, private individual tutoring, and teaching in rural, suburban, and urban classrooms and home settings. Education has given me the opportunity to find what I am passionate about, and I hope to help others gain that same opportunity through tutoring. I love to travel and have visited 27 countries including China, Mexico, Switzerland, Italy, Cambodia, Spain, Portugal and Germany! When I have free time, I pick up a notebook and a pen and start converting my ideas into words. I write some short essays and good stories. Writing is a source of catharsis for me. When my mind becomes tired, and a lot of stuff gathered there, I transform them into text. This soothes my brain, and I feel as if a burden has been removed from me.
