Hobbies
I am an easy-going person that keeps it real with my students but also keeps it positive. When I worked in middle school, I had the reputation as the "cool teacher", but I did not earn this title by simply allowing students to do as they please. I would take the time to build relationships with as many students as I possibly could and from there I would push them to do their best work in my class as well as other subjects. Since the bond had already been established, students knew that I pushed them because I really wanted to see them succeed. I encourage students to be loud and proud when giving answers in class because confidence is the key for learning to truly take place in the classroom. I really enjoy things like food, traveling, sports, music, Japanese Anime, among other things and I always try to incorporate them into my lessons to give my students an added incentive to "buy in." Once young minds are engaged and active, they absorb information like a sponge and develop a love of learning that will help them continue to develop as life goes on. I love pets, especially dogs, and I have recently developed an affinity for cats. I firmly believe that any child can learn; therefore, any child can be successful.
