Education

I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Western European and Global Studies certificates. During college, I also studied at the Universidad de Sevilla in Seville, Spain for a semester and have studied in Arequipa, Peru as well. I earned my Master's of the Arts of Teaching degree at the University of Pittsburgh in 2008 and graduated with a 4.0.

Experience

I have been teaching Spanish for 7 years and have taught middle school and high school Spanish levels 1, 2, and 4. During my intern year, I also taught Spanish to first and second graders. I have been tutoring before I was even a teacher in a variety of subjects, but I have the most experience as a Spanish tutor. I have tutored kids as young as 8 and have taught adults as well. As a teacher, I work with students with a variety of learning needs and have experience working with gifted students as well as those with learning disabilities. I also have experience helping students foster language learning strategies and develop good study habits and organizational skills. I enjoy having the opportunity working individually with students to help them realize their learning potential and help them discover the ways in which they learn best. Professionally, I stay current with the latest foreign language pedagogy. I am a member of several professional organizations and have presented at the National ACTFL (American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Language) and the PSMLA (Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association) conferences.
