Experience
I have been tutoring for over fifteen years for various colleges and schools. Tutoring is something I love due to the one-on-one experience it provides, and the ability to see the clear progress each student makes. My experience includes writing and technology tutoring at Worcester State University. Later I was promoted to the Manager of the Center for Online Learning at Worcester State University where I was an educational technology trainer for faculty and K-12 instructors. In addition, I was also in charge of the College's Learning Management System and for training faculty how to teach online courses. As a graduate student I worked as both a Teaching Assistant at Texas State University and a K-12 substitute teacher for Del Valle ISD. I then moved on to become the Assistant Director of the San Antonio College Writing Center and also worked as an adjunct composition and developmental composition instructor for St. Mary's University and San Antonio College. While the Assistant Director at San Antonio College I was not only in charge of the tutor training program, but was also instrumental in obtaining Level III College Reading and Learning Association certification for our Writing Center. Through this I a also a Level III certified tutor. Most recently, before returning to TX, I was a full-time English Instructor, for Midlands Technical College, teaching a variety of Composition and Literature courses. I also have a speciality in American Literature, extensive experience with Children's Literature, and with online teaching and tutoring.

Hobbies
My primary hobbies are reading and writing, along with watching movies, camping, and traveling. I also enjoy spending time with my fiancee, her two girls, and my two cats. Ultimately, I love learning new things and trying new experiences. While English is my primary subject, I also have an extensive interest in psychology and have studied the field extensively. This has helped greatly in understanding the students I have taught and tutored and how different teaching and tutoring methods work. I greatly enjoy tutoring because of both the challenges and rewards it offers. There are many different learning styles and roadblocks to learning, and being adaptable and creative enough to work with someone to overcome this may be challenging, but when a breakthrough occurs it is also extremely rewarding. Having worked with all levels of students, from developmental students to graduate students, I understand that everyone learns differently, but most importantly that everyone can succeed at learning and even excel.
