Experience
I've tutored children through philanthropy programs set up by a former employer, as well as during my time at University. I enjoy writing, and I enjoy working with kids of all ages -- and when I discuss with others what I'd like to do years from now, the prospect of teaching full-time (ideally AP English) inevitably comes up. In addition to an otherwise mundane career in mortgage finance, I spend approximately 25% of my working hours with a former presidential speechwriter preparing all manners of internal and external communications. To the extent that this isn't the place for immodesty, this former Clinton-then-Bush employee long ago labeled me a "master copy-editor." To those interested, you can find a published work of mine on blurb.com by simply Googling my full name.

Hobbies
When I'm not working, I enjoy reading, watching assorted history/science documentaries (and sports, of course), and living an active, healthy lifestyle. Intelligent conversation laced with self-deprecating, dry humor is a passion of mine, too, having grown up in a pun-heavy, Monty Python-worshipping household. I'm an effective writer in all contexts -- from executive corporate communications to creative writing to more formal expository and academic-type pieces -- and I'm a more-than-capable teacher. I'm not interested in polishing (read: simply proofreading and offering stylistic feedback) your child's writing for him/her but rather allowing him/her to begin to see the written language as the incredibly dynamic, powerful tool that it is. In my spare time I very much enjoy running about like a freshly bathed dog within the nuances and folds of the English language's wonderful ambiguities.
