SAT scores: 760 Reading 560 Math 700 Writing Since I have personally found academia extremely satisfying, I look forward to helping other students achieve their academic goals. I am a friendly, well-organised, flexible and supportive tutor with years of teaching experience, specialising in students from diverse backgrounds. I am bilingual - Finnish and English and a bit of conversational Chinese - so I recognise the difficulties of learning a second language, and also some tricks on how to improve. My research interests are comparative literatures, politics and history, the relationship between the visual arts and literature as well as the representation of animals in fiction. I am a published author of several academic pieces, and have been invited to present my work at conferences. I won the Carnegie Cameron Bursary last year and the year before that I won the English Department Prize for the highest grades in my year, the Peggy Grant Award for best BA dissertation, and the Keith Morton Memorial Award for most distinguished mature student in the Faculties of Law, Arts and Social Sciences. I also was the top performing student in the literature category of the Undergraduate Award, which is the world's largest international undergraduate competition. I was honoured to receive my award from the President of Ireland, Michael Higgins. I graduated from the University of Strathclyde with the best grades in my Masters degree course in 2016. I'll be beginning my PhD course at Oxford University in October but until then I am very much looking forward to assisting other students in their academic ambitions.
