Education

EDUCATION: 2008-2012 Florida Atlantic University M.S. Analytical Chemistry “Intraspecific venom variability of the carnivorous marine mollusk; Conus purpurascens” ∗ Venom profiles of C. purpurascens were established by a compilation of analytical methodology. The venom dynamics within the population analyzed milked venom based upon the presence of known conopeptides, novel peptides, and protein composition. Isolated, identified, and characterized known or novel peptides within a sub population of Conus specimens. Expertise in chromatography (RP-HPLC, Semi-Prep, Size Exclusion), Mass Spectroscopy methods (MS:MS, MALDI-tof, ESI:MS, LC-MS, Orbitrap-MS), Structural characterization and TIC variability using 1D H NMR and milked venom MS spectra for qualitative variability based upon gender, size, origin, and specimen. Compiled data was analyzed using StatPlus, and GraphPad Prism to interpret variance in a statistical, quantitative manner. Coursework included Kinetics and Energetics, Synthesis and Characterization, Instrumentation, Chemical Research, Nanoscience, Neuroscience 1 & 2, Environmental Chemical Analysis, Advanced Organic Chemistry 3, Biology of Cancer, Protein Mis-folding and Disease, Advanced Biochemistry, and other graduate electives. *2009-2010 Florida Atlantic University/National Science Foundation NSF GK12 Fellowship ∗ National Science Foundation sponsored fellowship promoting the integration of current scientific research theory, application, and methodology with high school chemistry curriculum to encourage future scientific career possibilities (Subdivision of the STEM federal program for encouragement of students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics). Developed hands on applications of current science and technology as it relates to current curriculum, encourage scientific thinking, and spark interest in pursuing science as a career. 2003-2008 Florida Atlantic University; B.S.- Chemistry (Biochemistry) & B.S.- Biology (Microbiology /Molecular Biology) , Minor (Geology/Math) ∗ Knowledge of Organic , Analytical, and Physical Chemistry mastered. Applicable knowledge in Physics, Calculus I-III, Advanced Mathematics -geared toward engineering students satisfied minor in math; including matrix theory, linear algebra, elementary differential equations and boundary value problems, and engineering math 1 & 2. Experience both in the theories and techniques related to Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, and Molecular and Cell Biology were obtained including-PCR, DNA extraction, Basic sequencing, Elisa assays, Western Blots, Cell Culture, and other assays in connection with coursework in Genetics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Immunology, Virology, Biology of Cancer, Advanced Biochemistry, as well as further graduate level biology related specialized coursework were mastered. Both B.S. degrees included an accompany minor; one in Geology and the other in Mathematics. Coursework including general geology (ab), GIS, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, College Algebra, Biostatistics, Calc 1-3, Differential Equations, Matrix Theory, Linear Algebra, Engineering Math 1 & 2.

Experience

OBJECTIVE & EXPERIENCE: I have have an everlasting passion for science and biotechnology which I have expanded into both industrial and academic experiences. My passion for learning and un stoppable quest for knowledge is nearly palpable. I enjoy turning an abstract idea into something relatable and my tutoring tactics align with connecting ideas. Science like life builds on itself, from the single celled organism to the complexity of the human body. Taking these sometimes obscure ideas and making them tangible and connect to a previous theory or idea is what I aim to achieve. That is the passion and motivation behind my desire to aid in understanding a concept, I am emphatic towards my students and work on finding their respective "recipe for success/learning" early on. I enjoy bringing the passion I have for knowledge and education and sparking interest in whatever topic we may be working on at the current time, and I mostly enjoy when the student/s I am working with achieve that "ah ha" moment, when the stars align, and the topic is truly understood as a part of something larger.
